Such an articulate interview, a pleasure to read your words Hallie. So many artists have had the same experience but because the platform changes are invisible and under the surface, it’s easy to personalize the experience rather than see it as the shared objective reality it is for many of us.
Wow, Hallie articulated so much of what I’ve felt in my writing life. Above all the hunger for an audience, and not in a clickbaity way. Part of it is feeling compelled to do the thing — in my case it’s write essays — but the hunger doesn’t go away when you release it into the wild. You want people to engage; you don’t want the work to live only while you’re creating it and then die.
There’s so much to respond and relate to here I don’t even know where to begin. Hallie is one of the most inspiring artists I follow these days. Thank you for this interview bringing light to a topic that touches all of us online and yet is so little spoken about. And a HUGE shout to Hallie for bringing the vulnerability and honesty- like she does every. Single. Time. This is the type of stuff that changes the world and I’m so excited to be here for it.
